THE FRACTURE OF A DREAM

Meet Dek Sundowner.  He's a thirty-something man with a house in the suburbs and a stagnating career.  He could be your neighbor, or that guy in the next cubicle.  He's got two kids and a wife--and his worst enemy is himself.  Dek's always been bad at making the right decision.  "Choose the best answer" on a test?  Worst directions ever.  When we first meet him, he thinks he's confronting his death.  It's not so far from the truth, depending on your definition of "death."  Is it when you're six feet under with not a breath left in your body?  Or is it when you're trapped by your own choices with not a breath left in your life?

See, Dek hates questions like that.  He wants to get out.  The problem is, real life is not a test.  Mistakes don't erase in real life.  Unfortunately, Dek's also hurt some important people, and maybe that's why he needs to see so many doctors.  Pretty strange things have been happening, after all.  He also thinks he may have been through this story once before, a dilemma of the heart.  But before he can find the right ending, he's got to get past a failed relationship, a stifling boss, and more than one angry female.  He's also right to wonder--what's up with all the birds everywhere?

One thing is certain.  He's got a lot to learn about being a good father and husband.
